A traditional side dish that originated from Mexican cuisine. This dish is creamy and savory.
Refried beans or frijoles refritos is not beans fried twice. They are well fried and smashed using simple ingredients.
Spanish families have cooked this dish for generations and it’s a staple in their homes.

The ingredients are inexpensive and it’s easy to make.
You can add whatever seasonings you prefer. I tried to follow the more traditional way.

Before I put the beans in the pan I used some bacon fat which gave it some extra flavor.
I will definitely keep making this dish not just as a side but also as a snack with tortilla chips.
