Sloppy Joes

Here’s a recipe that you will definitely enjoy homemade sloppy joes. This is so simple and quick to make it takes just a few ingredients and is ready in 30 minutes.

Making your own sloppy joes instead of using the can, gives you control over the ingredients. You can add in more peppers and onions or use less. You can control the sweetness of this recipe as well.

The only preparation that is needed for this is to cut the green peppers and onions. The rest is just measuring out the remaining ingredients. The ingredients are simple mustard, ketchup, brown sugar, and spices. It can’t get any simpler than that.

You can choose any side to accompany this dish. We choose to keep it super simple with chips.

I did take the time to see how sloppy joes came to be. What I found out was back in the 1930’s the theory was a cafe in Iowa served loose meat sandwiches. Joe the cook decided to add some tomato sauce to the sandwich which changed everything. This with the sandwich already being messy the name came to be sloppy joes.
