CrockPot Beef and Broccoli

Hi guys, this recipe I have posted in the past but I didn’t use a crockpot to cook it.  Also this recipe is something I created and tested to match the flavors I know I want my beef and broccoli to taste like.

This is a very easy recipe and great for work night dinners.  All I had to do when I came home from work was make some white rice that took about 5 minutes to make and then thicken the sauce on the beef and broccoli with a corn starch slurry.

At the time when I snapped these pics of the beef and broccoli my sauce did not thicken fully yet.  It needs to cook another 30 minutes once you put the slurry in along with the broccoli so yes the sauce does come out thicker.   I hope you try this recipe and let me know what you think and if you have your own beef and broccoli recipe.

Ingredients:

1 1/2 lbs thin steak (cut into slices)
2 cups of fresh broccoli (cut into bit size pieces)
2 tbsp minced garlic
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup green onions
1 1/2 cup beef broth
1 tbsp sesame seed oil
2 tbsp brown sugar
1/4 cup water
3 tbsp cornstarch
1/4 cup oyster sauce
Cooked rice

Steps
In a bowl mix together the soy sauce, sesame seed oil, brown sugar, oyster sauce, beef broth, minced garlic and green onions and then give it a good stir.
Add the pieces of steak to the crockpot and then the sauce and coat the meat with it.   Cook on low for 3 to 4 hours if steak is thin.  If steak is thick cook on low for 5 hours.  30 minutes before it’s done mix together the water and cornstarch and pour into  crockpot and stir it in.   The sauce will begin to thicken.  Then add in the broccoli and cook it for the remainder of time.
