This is a great recipe to try if you’re looking to save money and not eat out. This meal cost me around $10 for the meat and broccoli. I did already have the rice, seasonings and sauces to make this. I always try to keep Asian sauces and spices on hand because we do a lot of cooking. With this recipe it makes about 4 good servings. If you were to order this from a restaurant this dish alone is $16 and normally it may feed two people. So you can see the savings there.
I do have a video on how I made this on my YouTube channel Ruthycacook. I show you how easy it is to make.

You can choose any type of rice to pair with this. I used Jasmine rice which is my normal go to rice now.

This is now our go to recipe when we are craving some beef and broccoli.

Beef and Broccoli
Equipment
- wok
Ingredients
- 1 large broccoli
- 1 1/2 Lbs steak
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1/2 cup chicken stock
- 1 tbsp dark soy sauce
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 1 tbsp rice wine vinegar
- 1 tbsp light soy sauce
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tbsp garlic clove minced
- 1/2 tbsp ginger
- For the meat
- 1 tbsp Oyster Sauce
- 1 tbsp corn starch
- 1/4 baking soda
- 1/2 tbsp sesame oil
- 1/2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1/2 tbsp rice wine vinegar
Instructions
- Start by slicing the steak into thin slices. Trim any excess fat off. Once all the steak is sliced put in bowl and start adding the marinade. Make sure to coat the meat with the marinade good. Let this sit for at least 30 minutes or longer which is better. Start cutting the broccoli into pieces and then put in bowl and set aside. In a mixing bowl add the sauce ingredients and stir well. Taste the sauce and make adjustments if necessary. In a wok or large pan add in about 1 tablespoon of oil and heat on a medium heat. Once oil is hot add in the steak but don’t over crowd the pan. Cook in batches if necessary. Once steak is cooked add in the broccoli and mix. Then slowly pour in the sauce a little at a time until steak and broccoli are coated. You don’t need to use all the sauce. Any extra sauce can be used to add to individual plates if wanted.
