Homemade Potato Chips

For me it is so satisfying to turn a simple potato into a delicious crispy snack. Sure who done love those chips we get from the store. I am guilty of buying chips from the store but I’m also trying to save money and eat less store bought items now. The amount of preservatives that are in chips should be against the law.

Homemade potato chips has no preservatives and the flavor is so much more fresher.

It is not hard to make your own potato chips at home. It’s takes just a few ingredients and a little bit of time.

To make a good chip you would need to slice the potato almost paper thin. I used a mandolin so I could slice them thinly.

Ingredients

3 to 4 Russet potatoes

2 cups of oil (for frying)

Salt to taste

Steps

You can want to slice the potato paper thin. This makes for a better crispy chip. Make sure to soak the sliced potatoes in ice cold water. This will help them from not browning and remove some of the starch. Let the potatoes continue to soak while you are setting up the frying station.

When ready to start frying over (medium heat) make sure to dry the potato slices off very well. You don’t want water to hit the hot oil because it will splatter all over the place.

Slowly add in a batch of potato chips at a time and cook each side until golden brown about 3 to 5 minutes per side.

Placed cooked chips on a paper towel lined plate to catch any excess oil. Continue cooking in batches until all chips are cooked.

Sprinkle with salt or any seasoning you like.

Enjoy
